New UI is not user-friendly, as tabs frequently mix with multiple namespaces. I have reverted back to the old UI version 2024.8.291605-latest.
Did Lens developers tried to test their software while operating 100+ clusters? Cluster navigation was 10x better in the old UI!
And then, removing the sidebar with the cluster’s bookmarks… Seriously, why? Which PO has taken this decision? How should I access the most frequent clusters from the UI?
It’s one of the ugliest software update I’ve seen in my career. My team thinks about cancelling the Lens Prod subscription and moving to OpenLens.
I don’t know why would someone do this. can someone give me the link to download the old version. The link below download the new version Lens Subscription and Licensing FAQ - Lens Documentation
Is there any other way to get the Hotbar feature back? Are there any other alternatives?
Agree, the new UI is really ugly
The link there is to the older UI version of Lens. Did you install it and then autoupdate Lens to the latest version? Please try installing it again from a clean state to avoid autoupdate.
Hello,
I have been a long-time user of Lens, and the latest UI is disastrous from an ergonomics perspective.
There is an incredible latency when switching between tabs (I am using the Windows release 2024.11.261604-latest).
All my clusters are now displayed in an endless scrolling list, whereas previously, I had large icons for my favorites.
Etc.
It is impossible for me to continue using this version as it is currently unusable.
Could you please provide me with the link to the latest Windows version that still uses the previous UI?
Thank you.
Hello there, you can find the link to the previous version in here. We are going to introduce very soon some mechanisms to simplify the “endless scrolling list” and bring back the favorites clusters .
No, thanks
If you install the old version from here it won’t try to automatically update to the new UI on restart.
new UI 100% real terrible
I have to agree with all the previous comments. The new UI is unusable and the previous version with a hot bar separating concerns clean an nicely was much better with respect to navigation. Please bring back the old UI or, at least, let users decided what UI layout to choose from. Maybe there are users who like the new UI. Anyway I am clearly missing some configuration options.
Hello everyone, my Lens was also automatically updated to the latest version. The experience has been truly disappointing. I was used to adding clusters using the kubeconfig files and managing them on the hotbar with icons and memorable abbreviations. After being automatically updated to the latest version, it’s been very difficult to manage, and the UI feels cluttered. I hope the developers will bring back the hotbar feature with larger icons
also the long pause for tooltips is sooooo long it’s annoying
Thank you all for your valuable feedback! We truly appreciate the time and effort you’ve taken to share your thoughts with us. Thank you for sharing your feedback @fatsolko ! Lens uses a standard tooltip delay of approximately 2 seconds, similar to many other widely-used software applications. However, if there are specific areas in Lens where the tooltip delay feels significantly longer, we’d love to hear about them so we can investigate further.
We appreciate your input and look forward to your response!
in the old version, when I hover over the green square of the container, the tooltip appears quickly, it feels like up to 0.5s and this is very good. In the current version this is unbearably long
Thanks for sharing. We’ll definitely address this.
Could you post a screen recording of this behavior (maybe as a separate thread here on the forums)? This is not known issue for us.
CTRL+P
(cluster search) might help here, did you already try that?
This is not fair to make addicted over years to a nice, simple and convenient UI with somewhat modern design and then release a complete overhaul that looks like an enterprise app from 10 years back.
The UI is just terrible in overall, it doesn’t look like a fancy app anymore, it’s not catchy. I’d guess primarily because of new navigation bar with its complex tree view, and the small font size. The tabs experience is also annoying - I wonder if majority of users really asked for that.
I understand it may sound like regular “oh they changed the app, bring it back”, but the UX changes are just like switching to completely different audience. The functionality looks same to me as before, but there is no joy using it anymore. Like with any enterprise software. It’s sad.
Update: actually I must admit that the workload details view looks better than before.
Really curious about the reason for the change. When users are accustomed to a certain way of operating, a sudden change in user experience can lead to disastrous results.
Thanks to @a.bauer 's prev version, saved my day!
