Really curious about the reason for the change. When users are accustomed to a certain way of operating, a sudden change in user experience can lead to disastrous results.
Thanks to @a.bauer 's prev version, saved my day!

The issue is that the legacy UI had excellent discoverability and really helped to mitigate the complexity if Kubernetes. It was useful both for power users and novice developers who need to migrate away from Docker-centric workflows. I can’t advocate for purchasing licenses if I can’t make the novice use case.
The goal of having enhanced discoverability of EKS clusters is valid, but if you could make that work with the legacy UI it would be a huge win. It should be an orthogonal feature that you can toggle in the UI, and there needs to be a UI element that does what the Hotbar did even if you implement it in a different way. Also with regard to larger font support, some people require that for accessibility reasons.
how do i disable auto-update every time i restart the panel ? i don’t want to go to the horrible new UI, i want to work in version 8 ?
That’s horrible, very slowness and it’s a mess when you need to work with multiple clusters at many companies or organizations, it’s hard when you are working with many resources with multi clusters comparing between environments and you have a mess of tabs opened and for that reasong it’s draining your memory, please take back the old version
It’s hard to say in words how bad is the new version, it is unusable, I have no idea what UI guys were thinking.
I keep hearing things like “we will improve that, work on that feature” There is no such thing, the only possible improvement would be to admit this change was a total failure and revert to the old version.
I actually panicked when I started my upgraded lens after holiday, I practically couldn’t use it at all
Just reverted to the old version as described here. Thanks @jakolehm for the instructions. Please include changes to keep cluster resources together like this post.
Resources grouped together from many clusters/namespaces only separated by a tab seems too make it very easy to make a critical mistake. I like the tabs and the new look, but this makes it difficult to determine what K8’s resource you are operating on if many tabs are open at the same time. Again really like the tabs, just need to group cluster resources together, I simply do not like the mixing of many different cluster resources. Please create better separation at the cluster level.
Personally, I reverted to the last version of Lens with the old UI (Lens.2024.11.62028-latest.exe), as the latest version is completely unusable for managing all the clusters I handle.
However, this .exe
file now runs as a standalone application instead of an installer. The startup process is slower, and I can no longer find the location of the Lens metrics manifests.
I need to modify the taints and the images or versions, but this seems to no longer be possible.
Am I missing something?
I also would love the hot-bar (or something similar) to come back! New UI is just too painful to navigate many clusters.
How do we disable the auto-update feature in the old version of Lens (2024.8.291605)?
A few weeks ago, I used Lens without any problems, but now it updates itself during startup, and I have to roll it back each time.
Why is the Lens team forcing us to upgrade? Fix all the UI problems first!
Has Mirantis discussed the possibility of reverting to the old UI, or is Lens.2024.11.62028-latest.exe the final version (previous UI) that will no longer be maintained?
I use this version, but it does auto-update after restart
On macos the auto-update happens every time ((
The tabs and namespace selection system in the new lens is hot garbage. It is so bad it compelled me to come here and complain about it.
For example, why does clicking anything open a new tab? I want to move in the tab I am currently in. This works nothing like a browser.
The namespace selection dropdown is also a mess. It proritizes adding context instead of switching context. For example when I click a new namespace I don’t want to add that namespace to the current list. I want to switch to it. It makes it so I have to explicitly uncheck another namespace.
This whole thing is such a disaster. I am looking for alternative apps.
Please bring back Sticky searching across cluster objects (pods, deployments, configs, etc.). I do not like to have to retype my regex search in each cluster category. Please bring back the old selection of namespaces where you can completely switch namespaces by clicking on the namespace name, or toggle on and off multiple namespaces. Having to check and uncheck namespaces is an extra click.
Also with regard to larger font support, some people require that for accessibility reasons.
Currently, you can adjust the font size by navigating to View → Zoom In, which increases the overall interface size, including fonts. However, if this does not fully address the accessibility needs, we would greatly appreciate additional details about the specific requirements.
@jakolehm How to disable the auto-update feature in the old version? It’s so annoying. I have to reinstall the old version every time.
Yes we know it’s annoying and that’s why we created a version that does not auto-update automatically from the legacy version. See FAQ for the download links.
pls return old UI. The new one is like windows 98.
