We’d like to inform you of an upcoming change to the Lens Desktop. At the end of May 2024, we will introduce a new API for extending Lens Desktop. This decision comes after evaluating the limitations of our current extension API, particularly concerning design flexibility, testability, and security. Any existing extensions will no longer work on Lens Desktop versions which support the new extension API.

- For developers: Detailed documentation of the new API will be available on our website at the end of May 2024. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the new API to update or develop new extensions.
- For users: Please be aware that any existing extensions will no longer work on Lens Desktop versions which support the new extension API. You will need to download new extensions once the new Lens Desktop versions are released. We’ll provide guidance on how to find and install these extensions.
