Error: Failed to update chart release when upgrading NGINX Gateway Fabric via Lens Desktop

Hi everyone,

I am encountering an issue while trying to upgrade NGINX Gateway Fabric using Lens Desktop. I have the OCI repository connected, and the initial deployment works perfectly. However, whenever a new version is released and I attempt to upgrade the release through the Lens interface, it fails with the following error:

Failed to update chart release.

Environment Details:

  • Tool: Lens Desktop
  • Chart: NGINX Gateway Fabric (OCI Repository)
  • Operation: Helm Upgrade via GUI

Steps Taken:

  1. Navigated to Helm → Releases in Lens.
  2. Selected the NGINX Gateway Fabric release.
  3. Clicked “Upgrade”, selected the new version, and adjusted the values.yaml.
  4. Triggered the upgrade, which resulted in the error mentioned above.

I have tried refreshing the OCI catalog, but the issue persists. Are there specific configurations or OCI-related limitations in Lens that might be causing this? Any guidance on how to debug the underlying Helm error logs within Lens would also be appreciated.
