We are happy to announce a new stable release for Lens Desktop that addresses multiple bugs and offers a new set of features as a response to the valuable feedback we have gathered from our community. This is the first version we consider stable enough to roll out to our used base.
To ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruption we’ll start by rolling out the update to a small portion of our users, then incrementally increasing this number until all users have access to the update. If you have not received the update and wish to try it out, you can download this version manually at our website .
Here’s what you can expect:
- Namespace selector now properly executes a single watch when “All namespaces” are selected and reacts to changes accordingly.
- Fixed watches over CRDs and CRs to properly react to changes in the list or their details panels.
- Added keyboard shortcut
Cmd+P
/Ctrl+P
to quickly search for clusters and reveal them in the navigator (demo) - Added a new command to the command palette to quickly switch between resource tabs
- Improved Light theming contrast and general appearance across the whole surface of the app
- Fixed security vulnerabilities not showing in Applications details
- Fixed missing telemetry events gathering erroneous IDs
- Fixed broken layout in Preference → Metrics → Hide Metrics
- Fixed Security Center not reacting to incoming vulnerability reports
- Improved logs view to remember scroll position when switching tabs
- Automatically removed deprecated storage files no longer used by the app
- Fixed tabs from EKS clusters not restoring after connectivity issues
Linux users:
For users wanting to try this new release on Linux, we are experiencing some issues publishing binaries to the SnapStore (to be resolved very soon). Until those issues are fully addressed, you can download the binaries directly from the links below:
Debian-based: Lens-2024.11.261604-latest.amd64.deb
Portable: Lens-2024.11.261604-latest.x86_64.AppImage
RPM-based: Lens-2024.11.261604-latest.x86_64.rpm
What if I need to rollback?
If you depend on features like “Extensions” to complete your day-to-day work, or any other not yet available in this release, we recommend to roll back to a special legacy edition available our documentation (once you have received the update). This special version will allow you to opt-out of future updates until you are ready to migrate to our new and improved Lens.
